How To Make Your Own Favour Bag - Step By Step Tutorial

Hi everyone. Welcome to this evenings post!

Today I wanted to show you how to make something simple, yet extremely helpful in my opinon.

It is around this time every year where the sound of wedding bells, the ribbon on wedding cards and the floods of people dressed up begin catching me eye. Wedding season has began!

I absolutely love weddings. Seeing all my friends and family, seeing the beautiful decor and, of course, finally seeing the dress. I've seen people having amazing days on a variety of budgets and I think its brilliant how you can also personalise your special day more with some handmade items.

Obviously weddings can be massively expensive and not everyone has the funds to pay for their dream day. BUT, there are little things you can do here and there to help with expensives.

I've seen people make their own centre pieces, small favour bags, invitations, decorations etc. So in todays post I thought I would show you how you can make a favour bag for you special day.

Now you could actually use this to give someone a small gift in but they are the perfect size for wedding favour bags. You could also use these as an alternatives for party bags at your children's parties.

These are a cute thing to add to your wedding as it allows you to personalise your favours to your guests, you can match your colour scheme and you make it the perfect size for you gift!

Continue reading to find out exactly how to make them!

What you will need:
- Card stock of your colour choice - I decided to use cream
- Scoring board (not pictured)
- Ink - I used Stampin Up! 'Rich Razzleberry
- Double sided tape
- Single hole punch - although you could use a normal hole punch, it just may be slightly more difficult
- Stamp of your choice - I used Indigo Blue Blooming' Great Smallest Flower
- Ribbon

Steps

1) Cut your cream card stock to 8 1/4" x 4". First turn your paper on your scoring board so the short side is at the top and long sides are either side of the paper. Score at 2". Then turn your paper 90 degrees and scored it at 2", 4", 6" and 8". You will then need to make a small mark at the top at 1", 3", 5" and 7".

2) You will then need to take a ruler and your scoring tool and make triangle score lines from the marked points to the scoreline below. I have drawn where you need to score to make it easier to see

3) Remove the small rectangle highlighted in the picture below. At this point you can fold and burnish your straight scorelines. Leave the diagonal scorelines until you have stamped on the card stock

4) You will now need to stamp the pattern of your choice onto the top of your card stock - the half were you haven't removed the rectangle from as that is the bottom of your bag

5) Next you will need to cut up your scorelines on the bottom up the scoreline above it

6) Now you will want to fold your diagonal scorelines. If you place your card stock with the pattern side up, the first diagonal scoreline should fold so the edges pops up towards you. You then continue to fold in a concertina pattern. Place some double sided tape on the small rectangle on the right

7) Then turn over your card stock and place some double sided tape on the bottom of the second square

8) Fold the paper in half and stick the small rectangle to edge of the other side of the paper. Then fold the squares that are opposite were neither of them have tape on . Then stick the third square down without any tape and finally the squares with the tape to seal it all

At this point it should look something like this

9) To punch the holes for your ribbon pinch together two of the sides that make one of the points and punch the hole. Repeat around the until you have done all four corners

10) To finish off your bag you will need need to thread your ribbon through and tie in a knot!

That is it. As you can see they are quite simple to make and they look beautiful.

You can customise these to suit any occasion. You can match your wedding day colour scheme, match a party theme or even decorate them scary for halloween.

They are the perfect size for a few sneaky chocolates or any other small gifts. You will be surprised how much money you could save making these yourselves. Also you could make an evening of it with your bridesmaids making them, get a take away and a nice bottle of wine!
