Hey everyone!
Hope you have all been enjoying your week. My daughter was down for a few days from University so we have all been making the most of seeing her.
In todays post I wanted to share with you a quick tutorial on how you can make a pillow box. You know how much I love making boxes! But the one thing I love about this box is there is almost a formula to making these which allows you to make any size you would like.
In this post I will show you two different sizes and at the end I will explain to how you much you make any size you would like!
Keep reading to find out!
Steps:
1) To make the sizes shown in the picture above you will need to cut two pieces of card stock or dsp. One 10 1/2" x 8 1/2" and the other 7 1/2" x 5 1/2"
2) Score the bigger piece at 5" and 10" and the smaller at 3 1/2" x 7". Be sure to score both with the long sides at the top and bottom
3) Place some sticky strip on the long 1/2" tabs on both pieces and fold in half to put together
4) To create the curved sides and closure you will need to cut and score with a curved shape. Using a cutting matt line up the top edge of your pillow box with the grid. Place a small plate so it lines with an 1" down both sides. Trace out the line. You will need to repeat this step on both the top and bottom. I used a CD for the smaller piece
5) To score you will need to again line up the round edge with the corners where you cut but the opposite way. Then score using a scoring tool. Again repeat this on both top and bottom.
6) Fold your scorelines carefully
7) To make it easier to open punch out half a circle on one of the tabs
8) Then to finish fold in both of your round edges, the one with the half punched circle first.
Perfect for christmas presents!!
So pretty much the formula for this is whatever size you want your box to be, from the straight edge to the other, you want to double it and add 1/2". When scoring your paper you want to have the longer edges at the top and bottom. Then score 1/2" in from the right and then whatever half way is from the left to your scoreline. I hope that easy to follow. Comment down below if you have any questions!
I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I'm really looking forward to do more christmas posts.
