Hey everyone and welcome to another post!
I wanted to share with you how you can really quickly whip up this very cute card holder. I've seen quite a few variations of card holders but I really think this one is very cute!
If you have a friend who is a lover of cards or all things handmade then this would be perfect for them. You could make up one of these and pop in some handmade cards and envelopes that they could use. Obviously this holder can only carry certain size cards but you could adjust the size if you need to pop in something bigger!
If you want to find out how you can make your own then just keep reading.
Steps:
1) You will need three pieces of DSP. Two will be the same and then the third will be what you see on the outside. Your first two pieces need to be 6 3/4" x 12" and we will be working on these first
2) On your first piece of DSP you will need to score (with the long side at the top) at 1", 5 3/4", 6 3/4" and 11 1/2". Turn your paper around so the short side at the top (clockwise) and score at 1". On your second piece you will need to score it different, again with the long side at the top score at 1/2", 5 1/4", 6 1/4" and 11". You have actually scored them the same but a mirror image to each other. Again with this piece turn clockwise so the short side is at the top and score at 1"
3) Fold and burnish your scorelines then you need to do some cutting. Cut into all your scorelines at the bottom up to the 1" scoreline. Remove the small rectangle at the bottom on the side that is scored 1/2" in. Finally notch in slightly on the two squares on the both side. See below for reference but again you should just have a mirror image
4) With your both your papers you will need to make a mark 4" down on both sides. On the side with the 1" gap you are going to cut the 4" rectangle out. I have marked it below in pencil so you can see. Again do this on both. On the 1/2" side you are going to mark across at the 4" mark then connect it back up to the next scoreline. Again I have marked it out below so you can see.
5) Cut out the areas marked in pencil
6) Place some sticky strip on the back on the two tabs shown below. One the side closest to the 1" gap and turn over and place some on the 1/2" tab. I chose the wrong colour to demonstrate this (two pictures below!)
7) Fold in half to secure the 1/2" tab then fold in the two square at the bottom, the rectangle without adhesive then finally the one with adhesive to seal it all together. Repeat on both
8) For the outside you will need a piece of DSP 5 7/8" x 12". Score with the long side at the top at 4 7/8" and 7 1/8"
9) Turn over and place some ribbon or string halfway up on each side. You can always cut off any excess so make sure it's fairly long
10) Adhere one folder to each side so the highest point is on the outside. Only put adhesive on the side that is square! Then simply folder together and tie your ribbon to keep it together!
Like I said this would make for the perfect gift for any card or craft lover. You don't even need to any form of embellishments.
I really hope you enjoyed this quick post! If you want me to show you quick and easy cards you can put in the inside then be sure to comment down below!
