Easter Cakes For Kids - #BakingWithSukilu

Hey everyone and welcome to my first easter post!

I started this blog just under a year ago and I missed doing any sort of easter related posts so I'm really excited to be doing them this year.

I decided to do something with my granddaughters to show a fun activity with them which creates a tasty treat!

They are four and six and this was the perfect 'baking' activity to do with them as it didn't involve any baking! We made some yummy, chewy rice krispy cakes.

If you want to find out how to make then just reading.

Steps:

One of the things I love about this desert is there isn't any precise measuring, it's all exactly how you want it.

1) The first thing you will need to do is melt some chocolate. We melted some white chocolate and milk chocolate so the two children could create their own. Depending on how many cakes you want to make depends on how much chocolate you melt. You can easily melt more if needed

2) Once your chocolate has melted and cooled down you are ready to add your rice krispys

Add a very small amount of cereal (you could use cornflakes if you would like) and stir to make sure they are all covered in chocolate

You want to make sure you don't have too much chocolate left (not covering the cereal) or when you put your cakes in the fridge to set to a solid chocolate

3) This is optional but to add a bit of chewiness to your cakes you can add some syrup. We used regular golden syrup but you could also use maple syrup. Again just go with however much you would like. Add a little at a time and just give a quick taste to make sure it's not too sweet

4) When you are happy with your mixture and have added everything you would like (marshmellows would also be amazing!) spoon your mixture into cake cases and set aside in the fridge for the chocolate to harden back!

I absolutely love these cakes and the kids enjoyed helping me eat a few shortly after our tea.

I have been really enjoying doing baking posts lately so please be sure to let me know if theres anything else you would like to see!

Make sure to check back on Sunday for another easter post.
